Stone Soup for Five: {bullet journal} week 6 + FLYlady cleaning routine

{bullet journal} week 6 + FLYlady cleaning routine

This past week was a very busy week, but a very good one.  I didn't get anything crossed off my tasks, but some weeks are like that, right?  I think this was more of an "invest in people" week rather than "be productive and cross things off" week.

It's also been a week where I'm learning so much from the Sermon on the Mount study I'm working on developing.  "Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted."  Mourning over sin as a parent means keeping my focus on the real enemy (sin) and not my children.  It's coming alongside them and admitting that sin absolutely ruins all of us... saying "look at what sin has done to us" rather than thinking that shame and condemnation is more powerful than grace and forgiveness.  I'm praying the Lord will help me mourn and speak truth like that.  And if you want to watch a very eye-opening sermon on this kind of stuff, watch this series on Gospel Fluency.

It was also a week where I'm continuing to think through what Christian living really looks like in day to day life.  The left side page is what I am according to scripture.  All those things were already done when Christ saved me.  The right side page is all the thing I am to do, partnering with Christ.  None can be done in my own strength, but must be done leaning on and trusting Him.  The only thing I can do is die better to what I want and obey Him.
Some days when I'm sad or frustrated or feeling down I love to read through what Christ has done for me and be reminded of truth.

I guess it was a thinking week more than I realized.  I watched a short Paul Washer clip and took some notes, writing down what doing these things in Ephesians 6 might actually include.  Again, this is an impossible list without Christ.  In order to be better at this, I need to die to my desire to be lazy and entertained and distracted.  Praying for help and grace to do this better.

And I thought I'd show you my FLYlady zone cleaning pages.  I put these in the very back of my bullet journal for easy reference.  My goal this year is to try to get through everything on all the lists at least once a quarter.  I really like having them here because the less I have to think about what I should do, and just have a list to follow, the better chance I actually do it.

Hopefully week 7 will be a bit more colorful and fun, but even if not, my Bullet Journal definitely helps me keep my head clear, even when I don't have a perfect week.

  1. I love Flylady and the zones I've figured out for this house. I need a better looping checklist than I have now. Of course. Its so fun to see what you've done in your bujo, helps inspire me!

  2. I watched the Gospel Fluency lectures about a year ago and was (re)amazed by how the gospel message is so simple while having such deep and far reaching impact on our lives. I pray that more of us will watch the videos and practice the skills.
