Stone Soup for Five: ABOUT

ABOUT

I'm Kari and my mission is to get women digging into the Word for themselves so they can truly know their Savior, transform their quiet time, their faith, and their world.

After I spent years learning from fill-in-the-blank, video-driven Bible studies, which were great, I became frustrated that they all relied on a teacher or video.  I longed to grow and learn and fall more in love with Jesus but just didn't know how to take the stories in the Bible and apply them to my life.  I would try to read every other book available on whatever topic I was struggling with at the moment, but not the Bible.  I knew the bible was the key and in it was where the answers were, but I didn't know how to apply it.

So I started reading the New Testament chapter by chapter and found that I learned and retained more when I distilled things down to lists, bullet points, and doodles.

Eventually I started my first DIY Bible Journal in a cheap composition notebook and loved how it changed my spiritual walk and helped me distill the Bible into life-changing application and truth.

Later, MacKenzie Monroe of Bold Turquoise found me on Pinterest, and asked me to lead the Bible study portion of the Bold Year Challenge and teach others my journal technique.

I began writing down the things I do to teach myself the Word of God and the Journal and Doodle Bible studies were born.

You can find more about my beliefs and theology at my church website here:

In addition to the Bible Studies, I also blog about:

and other things like intentional living, books, homeschool, and raising boys.

  5. A friend posted on FB that the Corinthians study was available so I came to your web site to see what doodling was all about. I've just spend 90 minutes reading through a lot of your web site. Love the idea of the prayer journal. 37 years ago my boyfriend and I went to a Change the World School of Prayer Conference and received the Hour that changed the World book. My boyfriend/now husband latched on to the "HOUR" concept and has not let it go for 37 years EVERY DAY!! I am a blessed woman, our family is blessed because this is his priority. I'm looking forward to exploring the prayer journal now.

  6. Hello Kari,

I'm so excited to be part of your Bible Doodle Journaling series. I found out about it from Sara Peterson, a member of my closed FB group, Barefoot Journaling Chronicles. I have invited my 191 members to join us if they like. Sara and I will be leading a Sabbath School class through this study for busy mom's with young children in our church, beginning Sept. 5.

If you'd like, I'd like to invite you to join our FB group. I would welcome you in. We began our group on April 21 with a charter membership of 5...191 now. It's been quite a ride.

Thank you for your mission work here to help others grow their roots deeper in the Love of God. May God bless your efforts greatly for His gloryand your joy.

I look forward to how my precious Lord Jesus will lead me and others into a closer relationship with Him thru this study.

Thank you again and God's richest blessings on your work here,

    ~Evon Robinson <3

  7. I was on pinterst and saw your journal and doodle bible studies. I am not artistic but it apealed to me because it is more interactive than other bible studies i'v done. So I signed up for the emails and got a the free Ephesians study. What I didn't expect was for my 12 year old daughter to be fascinated with the study as well. She told me today she can't wait to get up tomorrow morning to do the study. Thank you for blessing others with what God has blessed you with!

  8. Hi Kari! I am so glad I found you ;). I saw you on the workshop with Mystie Winckler yesterday and spent some time browsing around your site and Youtube videos. I can't wait to watch more! I also signed up and downloaded the Ephesians study. I am going to try this! It looks like so much fun! The reason for my contacting you mostly was to let you know I did a post on my site about you today: http://sherigraham.com/doodle-and-journal-your-way-through-the-bible

I hope many hop over and sign up and check out all you have to offer. By the way, I am from Oregon too! I was born in Oregon City, lived most of my growing up years in Dayton. I went to college in Iowa, met my husband and now am a Kansas girl. But I still have relatives in Oregon. Anyway, that was a side note ;).

Have a blessed day and keep up the great work of sharing your talents and what God is showing you!

    In Christ,
    Sheri
