Stone Soup for Five: How Satan encourages us to sin -- method 6

How Satan encourages us to sin -- method 6

Continuing our study of Precious Remedies Against Satan's Devices, Puritan pastor Thomas Brooks lists the sixth method that Satan uses to encourage us to sin:

Satan tells us that repentance is easy,
and so we don't need to make such a big deal of sin.

Questions to pray and journal through:

1.  According to Acts 5:31 and 2 Timothy 2:25-26, who grants repentance?

2.  Re-read the sub heading.  Satan, the father of lies (John 8:44), wants us to believe that repentance is merely being sorrowful, begging pardon, and crying.  If that's not true repentance, what is?

3. Re-read point six.  Satan HATES us.  He comes to us with his arm around us, acting like a friend, convincing us of lies.  Then he turns on us and tries to destroy us.  In what areas of your life are you most susceptible to believing his lies?  What can you do about it?
