Stone Soup for Five: Deuteronomy Short Studies {God's Faithfulness}

Deuteronomy Short Studies {God's Faithfulness}

Every once in a while I want to share a mini post of what God is showing me in my read-through of the Bible using the I Will Meditate Journals.  It'll be like what I would be sharing on Instagram if I was still there!

In my Bible I underlined all the things God did, what His people did, and made a list:

  • God fulfills His promises (Deuteronomy 1:11)
  • God shows us what to do  (Deuteronomy 1:19)
  • God wants us to obey fully  (Deuteronomy 1:21, 36)
  • God gives us good gifts  (Deuteronomy 1:25)
  • God will fight for us  (Deuteronomy 1:30)
  • God carries us  (Deuteronomy 1:32)
  • We are to obey  (Deuteronomy 1:36, 43)
  • We are to trust  (Deuteronomy 1:32)
  • We are to follow Him  (Deuteronomy 1:36)

In this brief recounting of Israel's history I thought of my own walk as a parent.  God was so gracious and forgiving toward Israel, fulfilling promises, leading and guiding them, protecting them, and feeding them.   Yet there were points along the way (just like I've learned from parenting) that God had to leave them to their own choices and let the consequences teach.

God wants us to obey, trust, and follow Him, but He won't force us to.
