Stone Soup for Five: Monday books, plans, and goals

Monday books, plans, and goals

I hope to start a new weekly post on Monday about the week's plans and goals and then follow up later in the week with a report on how it went.  I need the accountability and organization.

Since we just got back from 8 wonderful days of camping, I'm feeling refreshed and clear-headed and hopefully can get more summer fun crammed in along with planning for the new school year!

Top Three Goals:

1.  Finish the camping laundry
(lots of Tide with febreeze, and oxi-clean to get out the sand, filth, and smoke)
2.  Work on plans for the homeschool
(Sell old books, buy new, quarterly plans, and co-op)
3.  Food prep
(Make and freeze quick breakfast stuff... so tired of the expense and non-satisfying cold cereal mornings)

Meals for the week:

Breakfasts: Hopefully I'll have frozen re-heatables made up (goal #3).  Pancakes, waffles, breakfast burritos, Instant oatmeal packs, egg bowls.

Lunches:  Sandwiches, left overs, and if I have time I'll make a couple batches of pizza rolls.

Dinners: One pot chicken and potatoes, taco night, crockpot lasagna, crockpot chicken tatertot casserole, homemade pizza, Turkey lettuce wraps, and then a night of DIY or leftovers.

Work Goals:

1.  Get the Corinthians doodle and map videos filmed, edited, and uploaded.
2.  Finish and publish two blog posts.
3.  Brainstorm/think through Bible Journal and Doodle subscription group and what it would include.

What I'm reading:

Women of the Word by Jen Wilkin (SO excited to get into this one!  A friend at camping loves it, and it's been on my shelf for too long!)

The Lost World by Arthur Conan Doyle (Finishing this one up from our book club meeting last month, almost done, and a fun read by the author of Sherlock Holmes, and inspiration for Michael Crichton's book of the same name.)

What I'm studying in my Bible:

I'm reading multiple times through 1 Timothy now.  Getting ready to write the next study and finding verses to meditate over.

Habits I am working on:

1.  Couch to 5k with my boys (we've kind of moved from the app to just running the high school track for now, we might go back to the app when the track circles get too mind-numbing)
2.  Filling a bucket 3 times a week with weeds and yard work stuff.
3.  Drinking 36+ oz of water a day (filling my water bottle at least two times)
4.  Making double of one meal a week and freezing for those in need.

Need accountability on:

1.  Daily setting GetColdTurkey.com so I can be in charge of my email/computer time, not have it be in charge of me.
2 . Knocking at least one item off our Summer Bucket List.

What are you doing this week?  I'd love to be inspired!

  1. I love your goals for the week. I've been working on my water intake and exercising (hit day 70 for exercising yesterday), but my goals are a little scattered. We are in the process of selling our home, and we have four weeks until our closing date. Yikes! However, in the midst of it all, I feel a hunger for the things of God. So I'm starting one of your studies to help me keep focused on Him during this crazy time. :)

  2. Wow you have a lot of energy! All of these sound like great ideas! Having my right knee replacement a week from today so not to mobile now but am planning an exercise & diet change to go along with my physical therapy for after my surgery. I just found your site over the weekend & have to say you're an inspiration & once I get back to work I'll definitely be buying some of your books! Thanks for being a woman of God & sharing your love for Him & your family with all of your readers. May God continue to richly bless you.

  5. You are really busy! My life kinda boring.

I do my Bible study time from 6:00am-7:45am, I am currently reading through the Bible every six months and am working on the Ephesians study. I am also working on a Prayer Journal for next year. The ladies in my Bible study group are planning on having a Prayer Journal class for all the ladies that would like to make one. I am reading Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis for our Ladies Bible study group which I usually do in the evenings.

I work from 8:00am-1:30pm 6 days a week. I exercise Monday, Wednesday, and Friday with the ladies from my church. This Saturday I am walk/running a 5k.

    Tuesday: Ladies Bible study
    Wednesday: Church
Thursday: Yard work (weather willing), laundry
Friday & Saturday: House Cleaning, Fishing with the hubby when the weather is nice
    Sunday: Church and a nap!

  6. I love reading other people's goal lists. So fun. You've got some great ones on here! I'm writing a post for tomorrow for my monthly goals for August. So for this month I want to get our homeschool year planned, finish several books I have started, and a whole slew of other things. Goals motivate me :) Good luck this week!

  7. I teach the adult Sunday School class at church and we are studying Ephesians. I am bringing in lots of your Bible study into the lessons and the adults are loving doodling and going deeper into the scriptures. Your lessons make us see so much more than just reading through the books. Thanks so much.

  8. This is a really good idea--I need accountability as well! I am enjoying the Ephesians study (my first "Journal and Doodle as I just found your blog recently) and I'm looking forward to studying the letters to the Corinthians next.

I think you'll like Women of the Word. It was very good.

  9. So glad you hear you are *finally* getting around to Jen Wilkin's book! Can't wait to hear what you think. I'm on the last two chapters of "In the Land of Blue Burqas." Have a great week!
