Stone Soup for Five: Things to share for the week

Things to share for the week

I found this video this morning when looking for the hymn for our homeschool morning and was so blessed by her voice and cover of Come Thou Fount.

I was SICK with the flu all week (ALL WEEK!) so didn't have much time to find stuff to share with you, so I'll share what I ordered on Amazon!  Isn't that fun?!

First, I've been saving all my pennies to finally order this board game.  A good friend and I went to the local nerdy game store and played through it one night and I loved it.  It's kind of like Settlers of Catan, but much less mean and cut-throat (I HATE the robber in Catan!).  It's only for 4 players though, so that's a bummer.  But it is really fun.

I bought this Raclette grill a couple months ago and it is SO. MUCH. FUN!  We did a traditional meal with boiled potatoes, meat, pickled veggies, etc and then we did a second meal with chicken fajitas.  It's a table top grill and you melt cheese in the little dishes under the grill.  The fajitas were to die for (I precooked the chicken to mostly done to make it quicker).  And we melted cheddar and pepper jack cheese to pour over the veggies and meat.  So very good.

I got it because I'm looking for things we can do for meals with friends or neighbors.  Active, fun things.  For the summer we can grill and have a fire pit, but the long winter months make that impossible.   So enter the Raclette and voila!

It's also great for "snacky" types of dinners.

Here's a video to show you one in action.  Ours, of course is a smaller version, but you get the idea:

I didn't get a chance to film the next part of my sketchbook, but I'll do that for next week.  For those of you interested in drawing/sketching, my son and I LOVE Jake Parker.  We stumbled across his videos on youtube and have been so inspired.
His advice (at 15 min in, if you don't have a lot of time) is WELL worth listening to.
