Stone Soup for Five: Book Review--Love and respect in the Family

Book Review--Love and respect in the Family

I received the book "Love & Respect in the Family" by Dr. Emerson Eggerichs in the mail a while ago and it has been SUCH a good book! I know he has other books, but I have never read one of his, and I'm so glad this one was my first. In just a few short words, I love it. Practical, thoughtful, applicable, SO good! Very, very good! So, let me give you my standard run down, since I did get this book for free, I want you to know if you should invest your hard-earned money, and precious time into reading it (and YES, you should!)  I'm rating from 1 to 5, 5 being AMAZING.

 TABLE OF CONTENTS
(was the subject matter relevant to me?)

Rating: 5

This book is divided into three parts
Part One is describing the Family Crazy Cycle (broken down to 3 sections)
Part Two is The Family Energizing Cycle (broken down into an easy to remember acronym)
Part Three is The Family Rewarded Cycle (broken down into very practical application)

It also has a pretty extensive appendix, notes section and checklists. (LOVE!)

Love that the table of contents is easy to understand and very clear and broken down into parts.  Makes the book nerd swell with happiness.

DRAW
(Did the book draw me in while reading,
and make me want to come back to it when not reading?)

Rating: 5

Absolutely this book drew me in. From the first "YES! I CAN RELATE!" chapter to the checklists (LOVE!!) and notes (quick reminders of what we covered in the chapters) in the appendix.  Amazing and real world applicable.  I've found myself applying a lot of stuff immediately. LOVE books like that!

PRACTICAL APPLICATION
(Can I take the information read in this book and apply it to my life right now to make a difference?)

Rating 5+

Again this book is JAMMED full of practical "here's what you can do right now" application.  For example, I really still struggle with prayer, and the chapter covering Supplication was a chapter I will read over and over again.  Most of that chapter (well, most of the book) is highlighted, underlined, dog eared and written in.  SO MUCH good stuff!

DOG EARS AND WRITING
(How many things stood out to me enough to highlight, underline, dog ear and write?)

Rating: 5

Almost every single page is highlighted or written on, and a good deal (probably too many) are dog eared to return to.   Action Steps to take, things to think about, questions to ask and answer.  Good, Good stuff!

END THOUGHTS AND WOULD I BUY IT?

I would definitely buy this book!  If you cross paths with this gem, pick it up without hesitation.  It will be one I read and re-read many, many times.  There is SO much packed in this book it is slow reading because you have to digest and think through the way you've thought or done things, but it is SO good.  I love books that challenge the way I think and parent.  It has definitely helped me see my teen boys differently, and even understand them better.  So thankful to have gotten a chance to read and learn from Dr. Emerson Eggerichs.  Amazing book that I will always keep.
