Stone Soup for Five: Dork Diaries #6 --Unfinished Projects Edition

Dork Diaries #6 --Unfinished Projects Edition

So I missed the last couple Fess Up Fridays... not because I was totally non-dorky those weeks, but probably because I was overly so.  But I'm okay with it.

Last Saturday my Mother in Law got remarried.  After 11 years of widowhood. We are so excited for her and wish her all the best!

Family was in town and I really tried to keep my dorkiness in control, but...

For the wedding I had to get new shoes because walk-and-tone flip flops or tennis shoes are generally frowned upon at FANCY occasions.
And my new cool looking sandals gave me a big fat painful, my-foot-MUST-be-bleeding-in-the-original-Cinderella-stepsister-style blisters.
Blisters, yes.
Bleeding, not yet.
But still.

So I wore the sandals for the wedding, brought them home, scrubbed the sticky goo I evidentally stepped in off the bottom, wiped out the soles, and I'm praying Marshall's takes them back.  They look mostly new.

I also realized at that wedding that Paul Mitchell Freeze and Shine hairspray is worth every single dollar of its $12 price tag.
It completely (well, for a few hours, until I got too sweaty) wiped out that nasty huge cowlick on the front of my head.

AND, if I turn my head just right, look up into the camera, and overexpose the shot, the resulting picture comes out somewhat nice, and doesn't look a thing like me.

It's the kind of picture that I could use on a dating site (if, of course, I wasn't married) and then on the blind date, the guy would have NO CLUE who I was.

And here's a random list of things left unfinished for over a month (okay, MONTHS) around my house...

There is still partially painted wallpaper  on the living room wall, because it took me all of two minutes to realize that this was WAY too labor and time intensive for short attention span me.

So we did big bold stripes of white semi gloss instead.

And painted right over that wall paper stencil, but it is still on the unpainted part of the stripes.

BUT if you put a chair in front of it, no one notices... kinda.

See?  You totally don't see it down there behind the chair... mocking me, do you?

*twitch*

Nah, it really doen't bother me that much...
obviously.

I have penciled in that same stenciled wall paper on our bedroom wall.  Got five minutes into it and realized that is WAY too labor and time intensive for short attention span me.  (Bonus points for trying it TWICE!)

So those pencil marks are still there.

You'd think they'd mock me, but they don't.

I don't even notice them anymore.

And the front bathroom has had this lovely scene to look at when you close the door.

We painted the trim last summer and I hadn't decided on what to do for the bathroom, so I left it.

It only bugs me when I'm in there.  Well, that AND the cheap shower curtain that is gray... on a black shower bar... with white shower curtain rings... in my blue bathroom.

 *twitch*

So I mostly use the back bathroom.

There are many, many more, but I need to get off here and act like I'm being productive for at least part of the morning.  Maybe I'll add a little to my ADD projects list each week... maybe that will encourage me to FINISH them?

What's really funny is that each Friday I think "I probably won't have anything to add to the Dork Diaries this week, because I was pretty non-dorky..."

Then I just start typing and realize, it's a lifestyle.

  1. Ah, Kari, how you make my day. Always.

You and me are two peas in a pod with the project starting-and-not-finishing. I do that all the time. My enthusiasm is very much like a flash in the pan and most of it is spent accumulating the supplies I will need to complete a project. Once I have everything, I just sort of lose interest.

I could do a whole post on the stuff I still need to finish.

LOVE your dating website photo and the fact that you even thought of that. Too funny.

Thanks for always making me laugh~ I love your lifestyle ;)
