Stone Soup for Five: Dork Diaries #5--Garden Edition

Dork Diaries #5--Garden Edition

I've lost my gardening green thumb.

For the second year in a row.

I'm the only backyard gardener who has to BUY zucchini at the store.

And I'm ashamed.

I tried to google what was wrong with my zucchini plant that has yellow leaves and keeps dying and all I could find that was close was that it might be a squash borer.  But I looked for the signs (holes in stems, caterpillar like things) and found nothing.
And I might add, was happy because I can't stand killing things like that.  It GROSSES me out.  I was going to have to take my 8yr old out with me to kill it... because he showed me his manliness a couple days ago when he immediately squished an ear wig (UGHHH!) with a marker.
He's my hero.

But I still can't grow zucchini.

Which is sad.

Also, I keep forgetting I have cilantro growing.
And now it's going to seed.
Before I used one leaf.
I need to make Mexican tonight.

And I always forget about my flat leaf parsley too.
Maybe I need to make Pioneer Woman something with flat leaf parsley.
Before it goes to seed.

And I forgot to pick my peas.
That were supposed to be sugar snap.
And now are just regular peas.
--sigh--

But I did get way more raspberries this year.
Last year was the first with these raspberries and I got ONE off each plant.
This year I've gotten over a gallon so far.

So epic fails are all made mostly okay with raspberries.
and coffee.
Need coffee.

  1. My zucchinni looks kind of like that too :( It grew some little teeny ones and they shriveled up before they got big. It was sad. If it makes you feel better, I'll be buying my zucchinni at the store this week too *sigh*

But your peas and raspberries look gorgeous and delicious, so you do have something to be proud of!

  2. Thanks Kira. Just got back from the store. Spent $2 on zucchini. That's more than a pack of seeds... if only I could grow them. :o(
