Stone Soup for Five: Getting Life Organized

Getting Life Organized

WHY is it so easy to fall into old habits of "Good Enough", "I'm too tired to mess with it now" and "Oh... I guess it's not THAT big of a deal"?
Armed with my new guides for the day

I'm right back there.

We re-did our chore system a month or so ago and it was going good for a while... then I forgot to inspect one day... then another.... and one Saturday we totally forgot to inspect (and those are the big chore days).  And with just those few slip ups, the boys are back in their old habits too!

Parenting is really a wake up call.  What we do or don't do, they do THE SAME!

Lord, please pick this LOG out of my own eye so I can see how to be a better mother!

So last night, I sat down and scheduled myself.  And I thought you might like to see how I'm going about it.  So far (8 hrs into it. LOL) it's been really good.  When I accomplish one thing, I can glance over to see what I"m supposed to be doing next.

I went to the store and bought a 4 pack of those small flag post-it notes.  These were the generic $1.49 version.  Then I started a line of them. Each one represents a half hour of my day.  I started with my wake up time which I kinda already knew I needed to schooch up a bit earlier... then just divided my morning/afternoon into half hour chunks after that.

It's been great because I can see at a glance what I SHOULD be doing.  I'm not going to let this be a master slave driver over me, but more of a servant.  This will show me what I could be doing rather than... oh... Facebooking, stalking blogs, or any other ways of wasting time I've perfected.

There are still a few blank ones that I need to fill in (maybe personal reading?) and I need to make a loose schedule for after school/evenings, but so far so good!

I'll blog later about how the chores are going (hard, but VERY good), how I'm developing my Prayer Cards for Prayer Wimps, and my Menu wipe off planner.  Nothing really Earth-shattering, but it's working for me!
